Your weirdness is holy.

I need to tell you something very important: Your weirdness is holy.

For a very long time, I had difficulty with accepting who I was. I thought there was something wrong with me. I felt shame.

I thought that I had to lose certain pieces of myself to become more holy. I believed that I had to change who I was so that God would find me acceptable.

The thing is, until we fully accept and own our weirdness, God can’t use all of us. God uses our weirdness; our weirdness is our superpower.

We are perfectly made in love to be fully used in a way that will bring more love-to inspire and lift up other holy weirdos.

Here’s to our weirdness! Love it. Don’t cover it up. Own it and you will shine ever brighter.

Misfit.

Most of my life I felt like a misfit; a weirdly shaped puzzle piece that I’d twist and turn to try and fit into a shape that was similar but was always a click off. And then one day, I woke up. I realized that the way I was created was exactly perfect. I was ok just the way I was. I didn’t need to fit into any mold because the God that created me knew exactly what they were doing.

Questions like, “Why don’t I feel like I belong anywhere or have a place to call home?” would often surface. “Why do I feel like I was born to fly instead of staying rooted? Why?” The answer: God uses me the most when I am willing to GO - to “get out there”; have conversations with people; connect. The best thing about misfits...they can shape-shift and be used in the most peculiar ways. I wonder if this is how Jesus felt?

How does God want to use you? What are you here to do? What makes you weird? Don’t believe for one second that you don’t make a difference. God doesn’t just plop us on this earth and say, “Ok kid, you’re on your own,” and then abandon you. We are special ops and we have a mission to fill while we are alive on this planet.

If you don’t know what that is, start asking. Get to really know yourself. What makes you scared and vulnerable? Where are your wounds? What does your wilderness look like? What makes your heart skip a beat? What sparks a passion/fire in your soul? What is nonsensical? These are good places to start. Easy? No. Not at all. Necessary? Yes. Absolutely.

All In.

believer.png

If you are a believer of Christ, in order to truly believe and be witness to miracles and mystery, you must fully and passionately live your story.

We simply can’t just read the words of Christ and expect any kind of change or expansion in our inner or outer world.

TOUCH. TASTE. SEE. LISTEN.

Jesus said, “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14

The church can say, “go be a light,” but often it stops inside their own doors.

Shine on, dear friends. The world needs you.
